The Lady and The Servant
Merlin and Morgana - The Movie
Sparks fly when the servant boy Merlin meets the beautiful Lady Morgana for the very first time but their blooming romance is ill-fated due to their different ranks in society. Does true love really conquer all obstacles?
It took me three weeks and countless hours to finish it but I did it at last. Huge credit goes to the amazing Sophie (Specialisyou) for giving me the motivation to go through with it. Without her I would have given it up already. Thank you, hun! <3
This was - hand on my heart - the hardest and most challenging video I’ve ever made (privately AND at work). Not only the manipulations but also the audio design was a pain in the arse. Most of the Merlin clips were not clean (means there’s this huge epic orchestral music over the clips) so I had to mute the original sound and “fake” all of the sound effects like steps or nature sounds or doors opening and closing, horse-noises, dog barking etc etc.
I’m very proud of the result. I mean I still see things that could be improved but I quite like it the way it is.
Have fun watching and please re-blog the shit out of it, if you like it. ;-)
OH MY GOD. This is absolutely one of the best pieces of editing I’ve ever seen. I don’t even usually ship this pairing, but it doesn’t matter because the story you’ve told has me sitting here bawling like a baby.
The assortment of clips and voice-overs is just phenomenal. They all work together so well, that I actually had myself wondering several times in what context the clips were used in the show. Like, ‘Oh, wait. These words were used for a different character, weren’t they?” Or “did he really react like that? Oh wait, no, those are from two separate scenes.” With the number of times I’ve seen some of these episodes, that’s an amazing accomplishment. And the sound. I can’t believe how clean you managed to make it. The flow of the story was so believable, and honestly…just beautiful. And accompanied by perfect musical selections, this video gave me chills that lasted through my smiles and my tears.
This is why I love fandom creation. Fanfiction, fanart, fanvideos. They get a lot of judgement and derision, and yes, maybe some of it is warranted, but the talent it takes to create, actually create something from a preexisting work should not be belittled. Honestly, sometimes I think it’s more difficult, because you don’t have the same artistic freedoms and options. This is true creation, and nothing will change my mind about that.
Seriously guys, take the time to watch this video. Sure, it’s longer than most things you’ll probably stop to watch on tumblr, but I swear you’ll enjoy every second of it. Even non-Merlin fans should watch it. You don’t need to know the show or the fandom to appreciate the beauty of this story.
I-I… This is just— wow.
